Papa's Family Recipes is a true story of Alberto Petrucci, the son of two emigrant Italian parents in the city of Detroit. Alberto went on to become one of the largest contractors in the Midwest. He was a very kind, caring, and humble man who loved his family deeply. He had a passion for cooking and became quite good at it. Alberto, known to those in his family as "Papa", left behind some of his very delicious Petrucci family recipes like the recipe for his Italian Chicken, and his recipe for Risotto. He also left behind a secret recipe for his family spaghetti sauce. Have you ever met someone you liked the first time you met them? That's what people said about the man called Papa. They also said his spaghetti sauce was the best they had ever eaten. Stay around him long enough and Papa just might cook you up a big bowl of pasta with his favorite spaghetti sauce. Can you say the word "pasta" without smiling? I know you can't help but smile after tasting some of Papa's spaghetti sauce and pasta. Come on and give it a try! Buon Appetito!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the life of Papa and his delicious sounding recipes. The author along with and his wife give the reader a look into the life of the author's father-in-law with some family photos too.Papa came from Italy and brought with him his love of life, cooking and hard work. He worked at some tough jobs and succeeded in having his own construction company.
He was a caring and loving man who loved his family first and shared his love for them by cooking his special recipes.
The author puts in the original recipes and then writes them below giving the reader a closer look at the man behind the recipes. I plan to try out a few of them myself.
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review. I highly recommend it.

Papa Family Recipes edition by Tony A Smith Denise Smith Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks Reviews
I have read some part of the book and is a copy of the many good things that I have been reading about author. I recommend this book to anyone who has the opportunity and possibility to buy it, to do so because it is going to be a blessing to you.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book. It was a quick read (took me about 1 hour) and the author Tony A. Smith kept me entertained with his humor and conversational tone. The part I enjoyed about the book was its narrations. It read as though Tony and his wife, Denise, were speaking to me about Papa, Alberto Pertrucci. It felt as if I was watching a brief documentary on PBS. The illustrations helped too. It helped me accurately envisioned the setting and the environment Alberto grew up in.
And let's not mention the recipes which is the main objective of the book. Although I am not really a cook, I enjoy all types of food and occasionally, a new recipe. The recipes presented in the book featured the original recipe written by hand along with a typed version of the recipe below. The most surprising thing I found about the book is that almost all of the recipes are quite simple, in my opinion, and don't require a lot of ingredients, which is the opposite of what I expected in Italian cooking.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would recommend this book to anyone seeking a good read.
Bringing families together for centuries... FOOD! This book is about food, family and most of all, LOVE! Crafted in such a way that you feel as though you are a part of Tony Smith's family. Seeing the hand-written recipe cards, made me feel as though I were looking through my mom's recipe boxes. Of course, I found a favorite immediately, the spinach pesto! There's so much to love about this warm, inviting book. I know I will enjoy Papa's Family Recipes for years to come and you will too! Thank you for sharing Tony!
Note I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Papa's Family Recipes is a heart-warming tribute to author Tony's father-in-law- Alberto Petrucci aka Papa. I'm generally not into non-fiction, but this book is something entirely different.
It took me to an emotional journey and left me craving for my own father's company. It was touching and the love and care Tony put into writing this book comes across beautifully.
The writing is brilliant and it feels like author Tony and his wife are speaking directly to the reader.
As I mentioned, I'm not into non-fiction, hence, I have no particular example to compare or rate this book with, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm quite sure I can happily rate it 5 stars because this book is beautifully heart-warming read.
And the recipes? I LOVED them! And I'm going to try each and every one of them. I especially liked the Tomato section. What really touched me was that each and every recipe's original photo was provided with the recipe, which made it all the more relatable. Somehow it managed to pull a string in my heart.
Kudos to a job well done, author Tony A. Smith.
